Firefly is Whedon his next major popular television show. She must have left an indelible impression because this single episode was the catalyst for her becoming a star. Summer Glau played River Tam with great ease. Glau was an excellent actress. The character of Tam was compelled to take part in tests conducted by the government, that required her to become an assassin. Tam's ability to control emotions was taken away from her. Glau was able to show off not only her acting abilities but also her skills as a combat ace in Firefly. Glau's fighting skills were developed through her studies to become an Assassin. Summer Glau has been a ballerina since she was an infant. She also has the study of flamenco and tango but it was a broken toe that put her off dancing. Firefly did not last for more than just one season, however it gained a huge follower base. Whedon got so passionate about the show that he returned a couple years later. While he was away, Summer Glau continued to be a star in a variety of shows. The actress was on television shows such as Cold Case and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.
